Course History
Local farmer Mitchell Warwick brought public golf to Mercer County with the construction of Hawthorn Ridge in 1977. He had the golf course built on his own farmland, and his family helped to get the venture off the ground.
For nearly a decade, Warwick’s group of Mercer County residents owned Hawthorn Ridge and established the facility as a cornerstone of Mercer County life. That community-minded approach was diminished when Warwick’s group lost out on a deal to keep the golf course in 1984.
For decades, Hawthorn Ridge has been regarded as one of the best public golf facilities in the upper Midwest.
Following more than 30 years of Quad Cities’ ownership, Mercer County residents Gary and Judy Baker purchased Hawthorn Ridge in December 2016. The Bakers are proud of Hawthorn’s rich history, and they are committed to its place in the community.
